I do shredded pork sandwiches by pouring root beer over a roast, draining it, then adding BBQ sauce and shredding. Yummy. The rubber piece around the lid holds in all the flavor and the timer lets me cook as long as I want. I'm never at the mercy of some non-cook's merciless programming. Only caution is that you need to learn how to clean the black pot. It will develop a white coating. This is easy fixed with white vinegar, but it takes a little diligence to make sure that t is always clean. I looked all over for the right pot for me, and this was it. If your needs are the same - go for it.
